FirstLight Federal Credit Union proudly supported the next generation of innovators as its President and CEO served as the keynote speaker for Medventure, a large-scale STEM education event hosted at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC El Paso).

Medventure welcomed more than 850 middle school students from across the region for an immersive, hands-on experience designed to spark curiosity and expand awareness of careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM)-with a special emphasis on health care and medical research. Throughout the event, students participated in interactive workshops and presentations covering topics such as health careers and dentistry, while also gaining exposure to real-world research and clinical environments. A highlight for many students was touring the clinical simulation labs, where they experienced hands-on procedures using high-tech medical manikins and virtual reality programs that mirror real patient-care scenarios.

The impact of Medventure is measurable and lasting. More than 95 percent of participating students report that the conference increases their interest in pursuing a health or science-related career and encourages them to take additional STEM courses, reinforcing the importance of early exposure and experiential learning.

All Medventure workshops and presentations are free to students, made possible entirely through the support of community volunteers and outside sponsors.
