Yes... We did it! 

We are pleased to announce that our FirstLight Community Foundation 

awarded $25,000 in Scholarships to local students!

The FirstLight Community Foundation is excited to announce its 2022 scholarship award recipients! This year fifteen community scholarships and ten FirstLight Federal Credit Union dependent scholarships were awarded, for a total of twenty-five $1,000 dollar scholarships. It gets even better…Our foundation increased its funding from $19,000 in 2021.

Did you know we received over 300 submissions from the El Paso, Fort Bliss, and Las Cruces communities? Representing more than 50 schools from Texas and New Mexico!

Through our inaugural golf tournament in October of 2021, we surpassed our fundraising goals and were able to increase the number of scholarships from the previous year.

WHAT WE DO

We cultivate We partner with local schools, universities, trade and technical schools to provide financial in-person or virtual financial education.
We collaborate Through outreach programs, we work with community and non-profit organizations to build financial confidence
We empower Through grantmaking, member contributions, and the generosity of the community, we provide educational scholarships to our servicing school districts in El Paso, Ft. Bliss, and Las Cruces communities.

  • collaborate with students, administrators, business owners and nonprofits

We believe we have a social responsibility to elevate financial literacy/education efforts in our communities. We strive to:

  • Inspire social change via diversity, equity, and inclusion in what we do
  • Find new and alternative ways to promote financial education in our serving communities
  • Work with schools and nonprofits alike…being part of the discussion and framework to build our communities financial well-being.
